The North American Motor Officers Association is a 501C3 non profit organization dedicated to developing, enhancing, and sharing training ideas specifically for police motorcycle operators.
NAMOA was originally created as the Oregon Motor Officers Association over 30 years ago; and I am proud to say we are an organization with a strong and dedicated membership following. Although we welcome law enforcement officers from any state or country, our membership is primarily made up of motor officers from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia Canada.
NAMOA is committed to the philosophy that training is the foundation for police motor officer survival. As motor officers there is a multiplied element of danger inherent with our day to day work, having to be attentive to the dangers of police work itself; but also having to multi-task with the platform we work from. Being able to minimize this danger through proficient, professional motorcycle riding; we as an organization have certainly saved officers lives, and reduced significant injuries as we continue with our day to day police duties.
As the President of our association I am honored and proud in continuing to work and strive for new and innovative ways to help our membership proficiently train, network, share ideas, and provide a strong annual training conference each year in May.
NAMOA is an association for all it’s members to utilize. In order to be effective it takes ALL members to contribute in order for us to reach our full potential. In today’s environment police work has become a very complex job in our divided world. Through dedicated and proper training surrounding police motorcycle operations, we can build skills which will allow us to continue to focus on the every changing unknown dangers beyond motorcycle operations.
NAMOA would like to thank all police agencies and their administrations for their support; and continue to encourage motor officers from these agencies to dedicate themselves with continued motor training in order to improve these perishable riding skills through valuable training and shared knowledge. Additionally, NAMOA would like to extend an even bigger thanks to all of our vendor supporters and community partners. Without your support each year our annual training conference would not be the success it’s become over the years.
Please ride safe and my heartfelt thanks to all who have supported our organization over the last 30+ years.
With the utmost pride and honor,
Sgt. Bret Barnum
President – NAMOA
